Contour 99 sputtering and stalling...sounds horrible. used techron for fuel injectors yesterday...ran car hard for 100 miles...car sputters while driving, stalls when coming to a stop..not every time but becoming worse. i had the car checked for leakage in the hoses...sounds like air is leaking ..nothing found...car has 123,000 miles all highway ...back in nov 95 i had the timing parts and belt replaced... can someone please help

How could you replace timing parts and belt on a '99 contour back in '95?

If the stalling is related to how much fuel is in the tank (mine stalled with about 1/3 to 1/4), it's probably a dirty in-tank fuel filter. This filter is inside the fuel pump housing. The fuel pump can be removed from the backseat. Remove the pump, remove the fuel level sender, and then pop the the fuel pump housing apart. The filter is a vertical sock, and will be dirtiest on the bottom. Remove sock, and clean with carb cleaner. Reinstall and you should be good to go. Also, check on the

Your problem is probably a leaking/rotted out PCV hose. Usually accompanied by P0171 and P0174 trouble codes, causing a check engine light. This is causing a massive vacuum leak, resulting in a lean running condition. Easy fix.
