1989 Aerostar - Body work

Hi,

89 aerostar, estimate to refinish bubbled (rusty) Rocker panels 2200 bucks!!

All I want to do, is remove the rust, and restore the metal... any cheaper way to do that without replacing the rocker panels? Paint otherwise is in very good shape.

Thanks, Bob

It's bubbling because it's rusting from the inside out, so no, not if you want anything that will last.

And if you add your other problems (rumbling in the rear end and five minutes of piston slap or lifter noise at startup) I'd certainly suggest you not sink much into this vehicle...sounds like a seventeen year old money pit to me!!!

Is this replacing using factory panels or just patches? We used to get thick replacement rockers for vehicles and install them for a lot less than that.
