2007 F150 temp gauge showing hot

the temp gauge will rise to hot and a warning note will advise to check gauges. we have had the temp sending replaced and the rediator cleaned out seem to fix problem for several months. now it is doing it again. the engine does not appear to be overheating and never has. this problem statrs when dring for several hours at 70 to 75 mph.

DRIVE 75 ..... stop...pull a plug, check plug color.

(pull plug before driving, note color, replace plug. bring cold drink)

Check hoses...sometimes hose innards collapse.

place water pipe as stethoscope on water pump,,,,rev to 75...listen to pump..

check air filter n housings

the radiator is partially clogged on the inside or the fins are clogged wit h road debris on outside, collapsed bottom radiator hose which you can't se e unless you remove the hose because there are 2 layers of hose inside each other and they split down the middle letting the inner hose collapse and r estrict water from reaching the pump which is not healthy..

you NEED to confirm it's not running hot, 'doesn't appear' isn't good enoug h when diagnosing something you might need to replace if left unchecked..

partially clogged exhaust, one or more of the converters and/or mufflers..

all these things can contribute to warning bells and buzzers and should not be taken lightly..
