97 Econolnie Heat/AC

I have a 97 Econoline xlt. The Heat/AC system started to malfunction today while my wifey was driving it.

My wife noted that no matter where the heat/cooling was set, no matter what vents were selected, it blow out HOT air, even when the settings were turned on A/C and turned all the way to cold. Still, HOT air. I checked fuses, all seem good. I looked for a loose wire on the back of the switch causing problem two.

While pulling out the switch panel, ever so slightly and gently, I the vacuum lines on the vent selector give a bit allowing it to come forward more, really just enough to see if there was a loose wire on the back of the temperature control switch. Well, it seems like it might have disconnected the vacuum lines from the connection within the dash somewhere... ugh. Now it will not change from the default setting (defrost) and of course, it's still blowing hot air. Is there an "easy" way to get to the connection and reconnect the vacuum lines? Is this a dash-removal requirement? ugh.

Can anyone help with these concerns? Thank you.
