can someone help me out with little ranger info

Have a 98 Ranger 4.0L and had couple parts replaced. Everythings ok and no problems, but want to be a bit more educated. All I know is these parts are towards the rear off the engine. I'd like to get a better picture of where these parts are placed on the engine, and how they work. Are there any photos or engine schematics available on the web that'll show these to me.?? cam stator (hall effect) synchronizer assembly

they replaced the Cam Sensor and the drive assembly for it, which Ford calls a 'Synchronizer'

just did one on a Taurus (different engine, same system)

the synchronizer is where the distributor was, and looks like the bottom part of a distributor, and the cam sensor sits on top of it

it's purpose is to tell the ECM where the cam is in realation to the crankshaft, and to trigger the injectors to open just before the intake valve opens on a particular cylinder

it's a high-rate-of-failure item, because my Ford dealer had both in stock
