Rear brakes clunk in E350

Sep 26, 2003 2 Replies

I have a Ford E350 extended chassis 22 ft. motorhome with rear duallies and a 460 engine. Recently had the rear shoes replaced and adjusted at Midas. Since then every once in a while when realeasing the parking brakes or braking after being parked the rear brakes make a clunking sound and then they seem OK. Any ideas what the clunk might be and is it a problem? Otherwise they seem ok...

Larry, I don't like to hear anything coming from the inside of my brake drum! It sounds like you may have broken a spring inside there, you may never notice it causing a problem otherwise......Look into it....

Larry - An additional thought - when you look into the brake assembly, see if there's a groove (from lack of lubrication) at any pivot points on the backing plate.
