i was thinking the same thing about the 04 F150 until I saw one up close and drove one, big difference over the old body style and I was impressed so I bought one. F150 supercab 4x4 lariat.

Was it the 'up close' new look, or the test drive that sold you?

Actually, I was considering an '04, but I'm picky about the rear seat space. Space! NOT seating. Our '98 had a cool setup. The seat flipped forward, creating a nice flat steel surface from the backrest to the front seatback. We could start with coolers on the bottom, jackets, smaller camera cases and stuff on top, etc. Even slide stuff under, to keep out of sight.

Our '01 changed the setup. Now the seat flips up against the backrest, leaving support brackets on the floor, and limiting the for/aft space. The jack, which was in the coolest stow location I've ever seen, under the passenger seat, got moved to the back. Coolers, don't fit between the supports/jack, on top of the little stuff, or anywhere else. The other day, while lifting a heavy bag out of the back, I actually lost skin on three places on my arm and hand. No big deal (I'll be fine, thanks ), but that's a first for me. I didn't think cars in the 21st century were supposed to draw blood. :)

I was thinking, if the '04 has usable back seat space, I just might trade. But NNNNOOOOoooooo. Same as the '01

I'll bet it drives nice though. Wouldn't mind pushing the pedal on that new multi-valve V8! :)

it was really a combination of the two.

Yes I'm very pleased with it and was able to get it using the X plan and 1.9 financing.
