Is the fluid hot? I had similar problem and the fluid was too hot because of a defective gasket. Fluid lost hydraulic properties until cooled down. Check to see if you have reverse after letting the truck sit and the fluid to cool down. If this is the case, do you have too much/not enough fluid in the trans? Good luck.

Yes it is likely that you either have a valve body problem or the failure of a clutch pack and time for a tranny shop unless you know how to repair them yourself.

Don't try to drive in reverse and just sell it quickly.

What help? Are you planning on rebuilding it yourself? You need to take it to someone who knows what they are doing.

Well, honestly, there's no reason for you to follow the thread anymore. One person told you what to do. It's not like one of us is going to tell you there's a screw that fell out of your transmission, and all you have to do is put it back in, and reverse will be restored.
