My serpentine belt is sqealing when I run my air on my S10 . Is it low on Feon or can a bad belt cause this ? Or is my clutch going out? Please help. How do I distinguish between the problems?

You can SEE a glazed (shiny) drive belt. Maybe the belt's automatic tensioner is getting tired. Check belt tension (rent the tool). Use a piece of heater hose as a stethoscope to locate the source of the squeal.
Thank you , the belt is chewed up a little and the clutch does not turn , it tries but slips and squeals . I have 130k miles and never recharged the feon . I bypassed the low pressure switch and clutch just tries to turn but does not -- it seems to be chewing up the belt.
Maybe your compressor is locked up. Does the AC clutch turn freely when it is inactive? It should.
If you try to turn a locked up compressor or defective clutch while bypassing the low pressure switch, of course it is going to eat up a belt.
I believe I would reactivate the LP switch, get a new belt, and drive to an AC shop
Good advice...and who knows, that new belt could just solve your problem. sdlomi2
