Funny how some people spend a good amount of energy trying to discount global warming.

However, let's assume global warming does not exist. Everyone!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with conservation and preventing pollution. Even if you don't believe in pollution.

The true problem that pushes some of these people is that the left has hijacked the movement and turned it into socialist drivel.

You and I know the simple minded hicks out there who sit around the dinner table and yell a quick knee jerk "pollution is not real" when they hear a story about it on the news arent smart enough to think of their own solution.

I believe in global warming, polution and conservation. I also believe that liberals do not have the right answer. I believe a capitalistic friendly answer can work. I am also glad to call myself one of the smart conservatives.

Seriously, it is time for conservatives to rid our group of the one demensional thinking hicks who have the rebel flag hanging off their truck. Let Howard Dean have them...

Next time you decide to pontificate be sure to run spell check before pressing send.

That is a canard. Global warming does indeed exist. No scientist on earth denies that. The globe has been warming since about the year 1500.

What IS in question is man's role in it. The issue is far from settled, despite the dreams of the media and of various activists.

"Dreams..." I think that is part of the sickness in the oponents mentality. No one wants man influenced global warming to exist. There are plenty of issues to pummel each other with.

And yet I believe you missed his point completely. We can do certain things to reduce pollution and conserve resources and we can do them without crippling business or reverting to the stone age.

BTW - there are people - even scientists - who deny that global warming exists.

Increasing numbers of scientists in fact as they all gradually get annoyed with the rubbish that's currently being peddled.

The bizarre thing is the 'global warming establishment' is now trying to muzzle their critics by applying wokplace / employment pressure and the like. If their case is so watertight, how come they're so frightened of questions or debate ?

Graham

Same thing that the liberals are afraid of, so they have to muzzle conservatives and the religious right. The Emperor has no clothes. . . . And both the conservatives and the religious have noticed.

Charles of Schaumburg

There's no political distinction in Europe. Right, left and centre have all fallen for this hogwash.

Religion doesn't play a role in it here.

Graham

Yes, but over here in the States, the Left is trying to silence anybody to the right of them. That includes most moderates. They've been trying since Clinton took over in 1993. They're espeically upset since GW won in 2000 and 2004. And they're not happy about the "Contract with America" that took their power away after the "Hillary Healthcare" disaster in 1994. They think power is theirs by divine right and anyone arguing to the contrary should go to the gulags. That is why they must never be allowed to have power ever again. Look at the mess they've made in the 6 months since they took back Congress. All sorts of BS, lots of heat, very little light.

And there are still some people who believe the moon landings were faked. It takes all kinds.

The "man-made global warming" crowd is entirely religious. The entire movement is ecclesiastical in nature, and its church is Mother Nature.

I think you ignored part of what Fred said because it's not exciting.

The same changes that will reduce pollution (a good idea that nobody disagrees with) may come with a bonus, ***IF*** it turns out that our burning of fossil fuels contributes to global warming.

Get it?

Work to fix a problem that everyone agrees is a problem, and maybe you get a bonus in terms of minimizing another problem. Of course, this sentence is only true for people who acknowledge that some places have nasty air quality problems.

EPA studies show the air to be 57% cleaner now than it was in 1970. And that's in absolute terms, not relative ones.

Bad analogy. All sentient beings agree that smog is bad, and the various ways of reducing it have been 100% accepted for many years.

Here's another analogy: Your doctor says if you don't lose weight, you've got a good chance of having a fatal heart attack within the coming year. Bonus: It might also help with your knee problems.

Wanna put your doctor in jail, too?

So, continuing to improve it is a bad idea?
