Glove Box Light Assembly

Had to order a glove box light assembly for mothers 91 Cadillac Brougham ( RWD V 8 ). Hers self destructed into pieces.

The GM Computer said it was number 742574265475686783 but when it arrived it had a different end where the wire harness connected. The body of the assembly fit into the hole in the dashboard.

Return part, my buddy starts hitting the computer keys again, turns out that part number is now for the FWD Caddy's.

I bring the old one which had the original part number . Run the original number through the computer and it kicks out three numbers that supersede the original number.

The correct part fits about 96 different GM cars. A call to GM is placed, the man is looking at part diagrams of all different light switches and the positioning of the two metal prongs. He then tells Big Al that part number GBK9- 842758274582 47FKDJH GIIEOUG2754578247582475 should work.

So Big Al orders that one. It comes in today - I go there with the original part. The part that snaps into the dash is the same but the connector end is still different.

An 8 inch wire harness is supplied, Plug the wire harness connector into the glove box light switch, the other end of the wire ends abruptly and it is here where you splice the two wires into the wire harness inside the dashboard.

$18.00 + tax.
