I chuckle every time I see Jeremy Clarkson pun about GM quality. I take it he has never set foot in a Korean or Chinese car, or worse yet the US equivalent of a Ford which is miiiles away from Euro Ford quality. Come to think about it, how many of you know someone who has an old Silverado or older model with over 300,000 miles? There's lots on the road. Classic 70's Impalas? can't beat e'm with a stick. Then there's the S-series Saturns, I have seen them with up to 500K miles...wow.
