Perhaps Toyota, unlike GM, actually learned from their "GM" experience?
Toyota production climbs despite recalls
Toyota and its subsidiaries -- Daihatsu and Hino -- produced 860,534 vehicles in March for an 82.2 percent gain. Toyota made up the lion's share of the production numbers, rolling out 773,297 cars, trucks and SUVs -- up 96.7 percent from March 2009.
Toyota cars and trucks have been the subject of at least three separate major recalls in the past year. One was for the "sticky pedal" situation in which gas pedals, as they age, begin to stick in a partially depressed position. Another was for gas pedals that can stick on some floor mats and a third was for braking problems on Toyota Prius hybrid cars.
In the latest recall, Toyota said in mid-April that it will recall about
600,000 Sienna minivans to address potential corrosion on spare tire cables.
