Hi;
I don't have the manual. Do I check the fluid level with the engine running or stopped?
Transmission is lurching slightly and has trouble accelerating from a stop.
Any suggestions?

stopped for 1 minute.
more likely that the problem is something like ignition than the transmission. when did you last replace plugs/leads?

With engine at full operating temperature, shut engine off and then check WITHIN one minute of shutting the engine down.
None without model, year, engine, and trim level (EX, EX-L, etc). Also report if D4 or S light flashes, or if MIL ("Check Engine light") is on.
