Oil Changes on Santa Fe

I'm wondering, since my nearest Hyundai dealer is 70 - 80 miles away, and I would rather get the service from the dealership, if my local Kia dealer is a good option?

Are the engines enough alike that the Kia SUV filter is interchangable with my Santa Fe. It is a 07 Santa Fe.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Kia will have the same filter. I'm not sure which engine you have, but one of their models will use the same filter. Your local Kia dealer should be able to do most maintenance. Purportedly, the Kia Sorento is to be the sister to the Santa Fe. Not sure whether this has occurred. I figure the worst that'll happen is that they'll need to put in an aftermarket air filter.

Jim,

To add to HT's notes, our neighbor has the Kia mini-van (sister to Hyundai's). Our nearest Kia dealer is 110 miles away. I spoke to our Hyundai service manager and he stated that he can do maintenance work and not void any warranty. Warranty work, however must be done at the Kia dealer.

She's elderly and has been driving to Las Vegas for oil changes, etc. Now with the price of fuel, she'll use our local Hyundai dearler!

Routine maintenance, such as oil and filter changes, plugs, etc, can be done by any shop or DIY and not void the warranty. Just save the receipts to show the work has been done as required by the maintenance schedule.

I appreciate both comments, thanks!

I realized I can get normal maintenance most anywhere but there are a lot of horror stories with the quick lube places. For the past year, I've been taking my wife's Santa Fe to them and pressing my nose to the observation window to be sure they don't screw up. Then it dawned on me we have a local Kia place so why not take it to some place where hopefully people are trained to do the job right.

Again - Thanks.
