Advice Pls - 12 cyl XJS

Pls give advice to a novice who has never owned a Jaguar

Considering an XJS (1989-1992) with 12 cylinder, either coupe or convertible.

This would be used strictly as a weekend pleasure car.

Any and all comments welcome.

Dan, For one of these cars, take your time and research the heck out of it. You want to buy the best example of the car that you can. Make certain that the car has been well maintained. If maintenance has been ignored, it will be a huge money pit. Test drive as many as you can-- you will learn something more each time you do and talk with the owner. Go to

and download the free book about owing an XJS. It will be a huge help before you buy. Again- take your time--- it took me 9 months to find mine. One statement many owners say. "there's nothing more expensive than a cheap Jaguar". Good luck in your search
