American Newsgroup ?

Is this Jaguar newsgroup solely for the USA -

Everywhere I look I see talk of Hoods, Trunks and Dollars.

On the other hand, in alt.autos.bmw, the talk is all boots, bonnets and quid.

Ain't life a beach!

American? No. International? Yes.

There are simply alot of Jaguar owners in America, Jaguar's largest market, and this is why there are many of us here. Oh and the language is English; it draws Americans.

I hope you can tolerate us/me.

Best Regards, Blake

Yep! Usenet is an international medium. Newsgroups, however, do tend to reflect their posters and evolve over time. This one tends to have become mostly about modern Jaguars and mostly populated by Americans. Some of us lurk so that we can help when the occasional interesting thread develops about classic Jaguars, but mostly it's very boring here. Much more Jaguar interest for me in uk.rec.cars.classic.

The jaguar resale value in Australia is dreadful, hence they are very affordable second hand. Add to that, most people think they are unreliable bits of juck that cost a fortune to run and leak oil everywhere. Now they are even cheaper :-)

I bought a SWB 1974 XJ6 in 1996 for 1,927.88 GBP, a couple of years ago two 420G's for 77.1199 GBP and 269.920 GBP and 5 years ago a Daimler Limousine 1974 for 1,542.33 GBP.

A good X300 can be had now for 11,567.45 GBP, XJ40's for 3,086.01 GBP and even the odd E-type for as low as 9,642.29 GBP.

Considering rust is generally not a big problem in Australia, that is not too bad. There are also a lot of your British mates, who buy older Jaguars in Australia and ship them back home, due to the lack of rust.

But we all speak one language. We still fancy a Jaguar leaper at the end of the bonnet. Ay, Ron? Graham

Just goes to show that good taste is universal, Pepe.

Just a 'Chip In' from New Zealand.

We love our Jags here too. Prices are reasonable.

We were almost cleaned out of Mark IIs a little while ago. We do try to look after our cars because they tend to be more expensive (shipping etc). It is amazing what you can do with "A Piece of Number 8 Fencing Wire and Chewing Gum".

I belong to the Jaguar Drivers Club in Auckland with a membership exceeding

300 in a city of just over 1 Million.

Keep Smiling

There are two international Jaguar groups that are very worthwhile, Jaglovers.com and Jagtalk.com that both welcome Jaguar lovers from around the world. One of the top posters in Jagtalk is from Finland. The love of these cars is not limited by borders. Paul, Boston, MA, USA 2003 x-type
