2003 Wrangler trailer wiring

If your Jeep didn't come with the tow package your going to have to tap into the rear lighting harness. Best bet, find your local trailer guy & he'll have what you need & can tell ya what to do or he could hook it up for way less then the dealer. I want to say the wire with connector is like 12 bucks.

On my 01 TJ, I installed the tow bar and harness myself. It was as easy as you predicted. Simply raise the shield to get at the rear of the tailight unplug the Jeep harness from the tailight, plug trailer harness into the jeep harness. Plug trailer harness into tailight. Drill small hole to put self taping screw for ground connection from the trailer harness. Route trailer harness to back. The mopar towbar and trailer harness came with easy to read instructions. Get the right kit and you can do it yourself. I spent close to $40 for the trailer wiring kit. I got it at my local Jeep Specialist

Do not get the generic kit that you have to splice into the harness. Getting the right kit that simply plugs in is well worth the extra $20 bucks or so in my opinion.

Bring me 30 fresh Miller MGDs, and the kit, and I will point out the wires to you.

Tha tis not entirely true, there should be a flat-four pin connector that is waiting for the trailer harness.

I have no illusion that I will suck them all down in a single sitting.

That is ROBBERY. I did mine in about 15 minutes, and could do another one much quicker than that, now that I know how. I did get the MOPAR kit, and it works great.

hi hank, i bought a mopar trailer wiring kit several days ago. the only reason i havent installed it yet is due to the rains we've been getting but the first sunny day ill be installing the kit and putting a tech write up onling with pictures that explains the process step by step (all 3 steps anyway :-) . if you dont beat me to it, perhaps the write up will be beneficial to you.
