94XJ Hard start

Just a day or two ago I noticed that my XJ seems to be starting very hard, the engine is unable to turn on within the first few seconds when I turn the ignition, it churns for a bit until it finally gets going, what is the problem? tune up needed? starter? fuel injector dirty? other?

As well as I am experiencing a strange sound coming (or seems like it) from the rear, a rattling noise, much like a blender breaking ice when I shut off the engine and when I turn it on into idle, then goes away as I accelerate.

I am not too mechanically oriented, please pardon my ignorance.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The typical cause of starting problems for a 4.0L XJ are:

TPS, throttle position sensor CPS, cranks position sensor

I believe you can pull error codes on the 94 XJ same as ZJ using the ignition switch. Check out
