98 XJ AC question

Just got the 98 xj (111,000 miles) back from the dealer. I had them do a dye trace on the ac and check out a noise from the engine compartment. Turns out they say the evaporator is shot. I was reading some of the other answers for AC problems and followed a link to AC source. I searched there and saw this product, and would like some opinions on if anyone thinks it's worth trying.

's the A/C System Sealer with Installation Hose Kit (P/N AR4220KIT)Any opinions? They want a $1000 to fix that and replace the PS pump. Any ideas on a cheaper source for that as well? Thanks

PS pump should be available at any aftermarket auto parts store. You own any tools?

Pep Boys had a similar 2-part system for around 10 bux. I used it on my wife's Dodge Neon, and damned if it didn't work! Went from needing a can of r134a every month to not needing any for 6 months. I don't know how long it'll last, since we traded the car before the A/C needed any more attention. Anyhow, it would be worth a try. If it works, you save a pile o' cash. If it don't work, you didn't waste a lot.
