AX5 transision to AX15

An AX15 isn't going to do much for your rpms. It has almost the same gear ratios as the AX5. Both are overdrive transmissions. If you are turning

4100 rpms at 65 mph in fifth gear, then you have some low axle ratios indeed. Many people would envy the crawl ratio you must have. Can you get better road speed with bigger tires?

The AX15 and the AX5 use a different bell housing. They use the same transfer case bolt pattern, but the transmission output shaft spline count will be different. This means of course that the transfer case input shaft, that it mates with, is also different. Afaik, you will need a custom adapter bell housing, such as you might find at Advance Adapters.

This is the same bell housing that one would useto adapt a small block Chevy V8 to an AX15. The reason to do this switch is transmission strength, not gear ratios. The AX5 is marginal for six cylinder applications. Although much depends on your driving style, you may break fifth or reverse gear if you continue to use the AX5.
