Caliper Abutment Clips

OK guys, since I redid my front brakes I've been getting some clunking noises, that goes away when I touch the brakes.

In the box with my new pads were some caliper abutment clips. "to reduce the clearance between disc pad (steel locating surface) and the guide rails". The old ones didn't have them, but I tried to install them anyway. Couldn't get them to go on with the clips in there so I figured everything was probably OK. Starting getting the noise, and noticed on the instructions that read "symptoms of worn anchor plate guide rails include: brake noise caused by chatter, clunking or clicking". My guess is I just found my problem.

Any thoughts, I'm guessing I just need to install the clips, although I have no way to measure the clearance, which is supposed to be "a minimum of .10 inch and maximum of .015 inch).
