well, i'm putting the tie rods on top of the knuckle and i read somewhere that this might cause the tie rod end at the pitman arm to hit the tie rod that goes from wheel to wheel. this happens when the left front tire is stuffed in to the fender. the solution is to install the tie rod end at the pitman arm on top of the arm, not at the bottom like stock. i wanted to know if i had to mess with the pitman arm to install the tie rod on top or not. does this make any sense?

hi bill-i'm working on a dana 30 front. i've taken the whole thing apart and figured-i might as well put the tie rods on top. the machining necessary for this was drilling out the tie rod end holes to 3/4" and inserting a tapered sleeve. not too hard.

nah, not doing anything that major-really just "freshening" up the axle. changed all the seals, u-joints, ball joints.... i found the lower 2 ball joints were pretty much frozen and 1 u-joint had a dry cap. good thing i changed them all...after 19 years...who knows how good all the joints are...
