any ideas...
Approximately 11/6/03 09:20, Rahul uttered for posterity:
Check wiring to seat. Check the heating elements themselves for continuity. Check that when switch is flipped, it kicks the relay that puts current on the seat.
If all else fails, check *your* seat for excessive Novocaine.
I can remember when Jeeps were driven by men - not pansies who want to keep their but warm. I though being cols and miserable was all part of the experience.
Mike Stevens '81 Ex-Army CJ5 (without heated anything)
Yep, I was waiting for the "Real Jeeps don't have heated seats" line, but this will do.
Heating elements quite often break, requiring removal of the seat cover and stitching in a new element. If you have an ohmmeter, you can check the continuity, or lack thereof, of the heating element.

Hmmm, by the mid 50's even the military jeeps had heaters. They even worked better than the wipers.
they must not have been "real" Jeeps then. :-)

I'm getting the idea that you're going to get razzed for having a heated seat :)

and a non-heating heated seat at that !
Usually they just get no response to those kinds of questions. If you ask me the answer is that it wont heat because its not an XJ. If you ask Bill its because the coil springs are causing it to fail, replace them with leaf springs. He will then give you a link to a picture of it. If you ask Mike R. its because the ground strap is bad at the firewall. (hehe) If you ask Lon Stowell its because of the current political situation. If you ask Nathan he will ask when you fix it to please send a write up to be posted on his site, or maybe he has a link already. If you ask Jeff its because its not a CJ the only heated seats he has are the ones he sits in. ... well ok sorry if your name wasn't included. KH
...and I would point out that "Harry's sitting in his TJ". ;-)
