Going for a Drag?

Question

Hi all, I've been lurking since March when I bought my baby Clementine: amber fire'02 TJ, and I finally have a question! A friend of mine left his CJ w/hardtop backed right up to the fence in our gravel parking lot for the winter. Another Samaritan locked his doors so we need to drag the CJ forward enough for someone to crawl into the back. We figured we could run ropes between our respective towhooks and pull away. I'm a bit concerned since he's in gear, heavier than me, and sitting on stone packed earth whereas I'll be on looser stone. I'd welcome any advice on how to do this without ripping the bumper off my truck!

I wouldn't be too terribly concerned about just pulling it forward twofeet.  How about this?  Pop the hood, use a remote starter switch across the solenoid and thestarter will engage to drive it forward.  Let off the switch and it stops.  IF you're gonna do this, please be safe; everybody clear, a couple ofchocks in front of the tires to keep it from driving away and buy a realremote switch vice two screwdrivers crossed under the hood:)  Good luck andlet us know what you do to move it. Sounds exciting, especially if everyone involved has a few beers first! He has a towbar on the front so we may just use a big truck to drag it out. I will let you know what happens but my friend has vanished again to sail his boat up here so I have no idea when we'll get around to moving the CJ.
