Help-Velcro Question

Zipper shot on the rear "curtain" ('97 TJ), estimated repair was $200-$300 to replace. Wondered if anybody has replaced with Velcro? Am thinking of using !/2" strips on each side of top and 1" on the curtain itself after removing the zippers "teeth". Any suggestions appreciated. CHJ

Should work. I have a rock gear top and the back window is held on using two straps at the top and velcro. (my top zipper doesnt work). use the 1/2 "teeth" on the sides, and use the 1" fuzzy on the curtain sides would be my suggestion. for the top of the curtain I would use 2" or larger velcro (good sewing stores will have it or can order it). Also, after you sew it on, use some seam sealer or other water proofing over the stitch lines. Do not use the sticky back kind of velcro. not only wont it hold, but you cant sew it, it jams the machine. be sure to sew along the edges and once thru the middle of each piece. good luck.

If it's just a zipper, any canvas shop should be able to replace it for around 20 - 40 dollars, heck, you can go to acmejeepparts.com and replace the whole zip-in window for a lot less than 300.00
