Jeep TJ: Power Windows..didn't someone say you couldn't do this??

I'll agree with that too, and everybody has varying levels of what they want and don't want. I personally LOVE the improvements on the soft tops since my CJ7s, but someone else may decide that is decadence of the marque purely for the opulent. I think it f-in' groovy.

While I'd never put power windows/locks on my TJ (mainly because I either usually go with no top or a soft top and it's either minus doors or unlocked) but I sure like the fact that it's an option on the aftermarket. I certainly don't think that aftermarket products of any kind ruin any automotive ICON.

If they brought out the "CJ Classic" built just as they were > Nathan,

my jeep didnt have power windows or locks.. i wanted them.. i bought some actuators and installed them with my alarm (locks) and rememebr a "how to" for power windows on someones webpage, so i used that to source my parts and installed. i think a few months later a kit became available lol. oh well..

anyways there are always things to complain about in any vehicle.. and doing the above was a HELL of a lot cheaper than trying to get my rx7 to handle the mud and rocks as well as the jeep did. :)

i dont think anyone has questioned aftermarket accessories. my objection was to the suggestion that the wrangler should come with power windows as a factory option (just like every other soft-roader for sale).

Why not? Rear defroster/wiper didn't kill the hardtop removal thing...

It's his Jeep let him do to it what he wants. And do to yours whatever you want.

I don't think it's creature comforts killing Jeep, it's design decisions contrary to the ideal that existed when "Jeep" meant something different than it does today. Like someone else mentioned, you can defrost the rear window on a hardtop, but you can still remove said hardtop... The same thing could be done with doors to facilitate power windows and locks and a Jeep would still be a Jeep.

Power options (including seats if they ever decide to put those in) don't make it less of an off-road machine. They just make it a more comfortable off-road machine. Now when they start changing the suspension, I'll take issue with that. I don't think that the changes in options are leading to the downfall of the SWB jeep as we know it. td

again, it is the expectation of the availability of the option that i called into question.
