Jeep TJ: Power Windows..didn't someone say you couldn't do this??

As I recall in a thread a few weeks back a few people were going off on some guy about how he couldn't have power windows in his Jeep TJ...blah blah...

I have to say considering the cost of my Jeep I was quite annoyed that I couldn't have power windows and door locks..

I'll be ordering both kits from this company considering how cheep they are..

what is it with people like you? youre buying a _jeep_, and bitching about the lack of creature comforts. i suggest you buy something that has what you want instead of trying to buy into an image and then bitching about the very points that made that image what it is. thinking like yours will kill the jeep name

Geeze Nathan, did someone piss in your cornflakes today? I'm sure your Rubicon has creature comforts in it as well. Maybe A/C, a stereo with a CD player or cruise control? Do real Jeeps have those? Just because someone wants an option on their Wrangler doesn't make it wrong, does it? Don't get me wrong, I find the info you provide here to be very useful. I just don't quite see what power windows or locks would have to do with killing the Jeep name. Short of a Liberty or GC, I bet your Rubie has more creature comforts than almost every other type of Jeep out there. Things like the Liberty will have much more to do with "killing" the Jeep name than adding power windows or locks to a Wrangler. Give the guy a break.

the post rubbed me the wrong way. ive never "noticed" him in here before (although he may be a long-timer). to introduce yourself to the group by bitching about what a jeep does not have is poor form.

all of the above, and i enjoy them.

absolutely!

all this shit is relative and based in opinion and in _my_ opinion (which is what i base my posts on) whining about the lack of power windows in a swb jeep is a yuppie wanna-be type of whine. you gotta draw the line somewhere, and i have CONSISTENTLY drawn that line prior to anything that detracts from what makes a jeep a jeep.

thank you. thats why i do what i do.

whats next? power windows standard? heated seats? how about a shiatsu massager built in to the high back seat? IFS/IRS?

there are many things i would like to see as options on the tj (v8, pto, etc), but theyre all based in making the jeep more capable and thats what makes a jeep a jeep.

but adding power windows to a wrangler is along the same lines as the liberty itself. before you know it the doors wont come off, the windshields wont fold down, and the drive axles will be independent of one another and it wont be due to government regulations, it will be due to yuppies buying into the image and throwing down the cash and frankly id rather see the jeep name die than to be bastardized further.

funny, i thought i _did_.

....maybe i take jeeping to seriously.

You know -- it's attitudes like this that have kept me from joining any jeep clubs and really paying attention to half the crap that is posted here and in other forums.

I never purchased an image..

I sold my old '88 GM 3/4ton that I dropped a D60 SFA in the front, winch front and rear, lifted sitting on 44" 's with ARB's front and rear, 350, 5spd.. Because it became a troll to drive and really was a beast to take on any trails, but was great in mud..

So I purchased a new TJ.. I have since swapped out the front for a d44, tossed my old winch on it, lifted it 6" and slapped some 35's on it.. in a few weeks I'll be tossing a front and rear ARB on it as well..

I purchased a vehicle that had a shorter wheel base and would be more practicle on the trails I wish to use. How do you figure I purchased an image?

So where the HELL do you get off with your assinine attitude bitching at me because I want power windows and power locks. Get off your soap box and stop giving Jeep enthusists a bad name.

Thinking like yours is very narrow and outright stupid.

And you've basically made a real vivid impression about yourself.

I've been in here for years -- I don't post most of the time because people inevitibly like to reduce it to posts like yours and worse.

I ran accross some parts that despite your narrow views on things I'm sure some people would be interested in. ISN'T THAT ONE OF THE MAIN POINTS OF FORUMS LIKE THIS?

Oh get off it..

The crap you responded to is why I've cut my participation in this newsgroup by 99%. I'm so sick of the continual holier-than-thou bullshit in here by a few unnamed "real Jeep" individuals that it's hard to participate even that 1%.

Considering that now yet again in the few posts I've made over the past three years it again is met with BS comments, I'll take the "liberty" (Not that I'd ever own an IFS vehicle) and remove my post, and will simply withdraw completly from the forum.

If offering information that some others may be interested in is to met with this kind of BS, I don't care for it, and won't be bothering to stick around any longer.

It's not worth my time -- I'll simply keep anything else I run across to myself.

to bad you base your actions on what others believe. im a jeep purist, less than some and moreso than others. when you make a post in a public forum you are either asking for the opinions of others, or trying to sell a product. dont get upset with me because i find your thinking to be off. id still help you on the trail and hope that you would do the same. core differences in priciple will never go away.

so GET THEM. i dont care what you do to your jeep. my response was based upon your suggestion that swb jeeps should come from the factory with power windows. those whacky germans are dismantling jeep heritage one piece at a time, and all to satisfy people that want more and more comfort and less rugged durability.

_bullseye_!

agreed! it was the suggestion that a swb jeep should come equipped with power windows that i find fault in. maybe i over-reacted a little, but i hate seeing the trend that i believe will kill the heritage that makes jeep jeep.

i got cruise for one reason......to manually over-ride the factory settings to function as a hand throttle at low speeds. although its not quite as necessary with an automatic, i believe this will be beneficial to me in technical areas.

agreed. i _really_ didnt think i was jumping all over him though. criticizing his thinking surely.....isnt that why we post, for feedback?

i dont care _what_ youre driving (jeep, h2, liberty) if youre broke down on the trail im going to stop to help because i am a jeeper. i wouldnt think that a little criticism of someones beliefs on what makes a jeep would change anything like that.

oh come on......you cant possibly be so thin skinned that you cant take a bit of criticism. i said your way of thinking is killing jeep. i didnt call you "stupid" (like you did me), i didnt say anything "mean" about your mother, and i didnt wish you any harm. sheesh.....are we so hypersensitive that any criticism makes you a martyr?

i didnt criticize you for posting the link. i criticized your expectations of what a jeep is and what it should be.

....yet once again you charged in on your holier-than-thou horse as if youve never put your foot in your own mouth. lets be honest, i think we all know why ouve cut your participation down so much.

over a simple criticism in core principles? sheesh...

That was going to be *my* response, too. ...intended as being humorous... ...with a little smiley after it... but after reading some more posts in this thread, I decided not to make any comments about power windows. This one turned nasty pretty quickly. Usually it takes a little longer. I think I'll move on to another thread...

Center punch. Works well and easier to use under water.
