Junkyards have them by the dozen.
havent seen hide nor hair in this area - minneapolis, mn... where are you? i havent bothered to do a national junkyard search yet (via internet) as the prices are usually high and quality is unknown. shipping is also difficult. hoping someone on the list has a crashed later model YJ with a motor i can buy. cheers, bennett

All 4.0 engines are fuel injected. The Cherokee got FI in 1987 when it went to the 4.0, from the underpowered GM design 2.8 V6. The Wrangler kept on using the 4.2 carbureted for a couple years longer, until its emissions certification expired. Then it too went to the 4.0.

Just to add, in 90 or 91 they went to the HO (High Output) version with the improved head and the Mopar injection computer to gain about
20 hp. Big improvement over the 87-89 versi> All 4.0 engines are fuel injected. The Cherokee got FI in 1987 when it went96 started with a different intake manifold (equidistant port length) for a bit more HP. google "Helmholtz tuning"
