No Defrost

Hi,

I've read some posts about the dreaded "blend door" issues, but was wondering.... I have a 1996 JGC Limited that blows about 90% of the air to the floor and 10% everywhere else. The actual temp control of the air works fine, I just cannot change where it's directed to. Is this more likely a vacuum problem or an electrical problem than an actual blend door problem?

I haven't pulled the anything apart yet but have checked for vacuum leaks all the to vacuum reservoir. All seems to be fine to that point. Are the actuators that operate these doors electric or vacuum controlled?

Any insight before I start taking things apart would be great! Thanks!

Depends on if your automatic climate control or manual. The automatic uses stepper motors, the manual uses vac.

When your driving, turn it to defrost then let off the gas. That will increase vac. If the vent moves then you probably have a leak. If not it might be the link has come off or the door has stuck.
