Powertrax (the manufacturer of No-Slip) has a toll free number:

1-800-578-1020. That number is for technical assistance, I am sure that they can help you there.

Thanks Jerry I had been looking for that number. I talked to tech assist at another place and he said no problem it should fit, but I tried again today and it's about an 1/8 inch to big. just barely....ya, without thrust washers.... I'll try that number tommorow. Nick

Hi Nick,

Not all Dana 35C carriers are created equal. D35C with ABS used a carrier with a smaller diameter bore for the side gears than that in the non-ABS version. Also, the interior distance between the two sides is slightly wider in the ABS version. Thus, the side gear crowns (and c-clip mounting surfaces) are a bit taller for the ABS than they are for the non ABS.

The ABS/non-ABS distinction was apparently maintained until 1992 or thereabout. After that, all carriers were ABS version, regardless of whether the Jeep came with ABS.

Does your locker have any play in the side gear bores? Do you have enough room to install without the thrust washers? If so, you are trying to fit an ABS No-slip into a non-ABS carrier.

Hope this helps.

It must be an abs locker. I'm doing it without the thrust washers and I still need about an 1/8 th of an inch more to get it in. It's on a 93 d35c open, on the door of my jeep it says manufactured 92. Anyone want a locker in good shape for $200??? d35c open ABS Nick

Hi Nick,

Instead of selling the locker, you could swap in a 93+ carrier. They should be cheap and plentiful. Take your old side gears when you go shopping and make sure they DON'T fit. Check ebay if you can't find one locally.

Better yet, sell the locker and put the money in your piggy bank for a Dana 44 upgrade.

Ya, Bill and Steve.. I'm pretty disapointed. Didn't think about the whole replacing the carrier bit. I'd have to get the gears reset though at a shop right? More $$$.... I would like to do a d44 but we are talking just more $$$. I'm only running 31's on a 4cyl, and I'm locked in the front (ox) so I'm not to heavy on the gas and the 35 has treated me good. Nick

Hi Nick,

Agreed that it is likely easiest for you to get another locker that fits your carrier.

But, if you're willing to learn and can beg or borrow a few of the required tools, you could do a carrier swap.

No need to touch your pinion - half the job done. All you have to do is ensure correct backlash and carrier preload. If you're lucky, no adjustment required. Even if you have to, adjusting backlash and carrier preload is relatively easy with a Dana 35C because the shims are outside the bearings.

Read as much as you can about R&P setup before jumping in. Many good articles out there.

By the way Nick, this carrier should fit:

You've got 4.10 R&P with your 4-cyl right? As far as I know from measuring two different side gears that I have, the 1 5/8" side gear bore means ABS.

Ya, I saw that and I emailed the guy to ask if it was abs. No reply yet. I'll do it though. I might as well throw some new bearings in there. I'm just worried about setting up the gearing. I could probably get someone in the jeep club to come by and check it for me. Oh and thanks, I didn't know which the 1 5/8 belonged to. Nick

Well, I bid on it. Hopefully if it doesn't work it won't cost me much. You'll see my new message next... Nick

Maybe Nick may blue and it'll come in with what's he got, but that's not> my luck.
