crossbars for Liberty roof rack

8000 miles down the road and I still love my Liberty, but I have discovered a minor design flaw. Unlike every other SUV I've ever owned, the roof rack on the liberty doesn't have cross bars, which essentially means that the two lengthwise bars on the roof rack are essentialy useless for carrying the occasional 8' 2X4, PVC pipe, fishing rods, or other long and light items. I could obviously craft a workable solution from a pair of short 2X4s and 4 bungie cords, but I'd like to find something a little less cumbersome - maybe something that would stash in the car, install quickly, and be relatively unobtrusive when not in use. I checked the jeep site, and they do offer cross bars for $100, and they extend a couple of inches to either side of the vehicle - obviously not something you're going tp put on and leave.

Suggestions?

You are part way to an aftermarket rack that may have more options. I have sold all kinds in the past, but I personally lean towards the

brand. Just an option before you drop another $100into the factory rack. May not be what you are after I am just helping youchurn the noggin'.
