Removing the head on a 4.0 Wrangler

Hi, I have a 2001 Wrangler 4.0. I need to replace the valve lifters. Can some one tell me if the head can be removed with the intake and exhaust manifolds attached. or do they have to come off first? It looks like a b_ _ ch to remove them in the vehicle.Thanks,Dennis

Hmmm. They don't seem to carry any OEM parts for anything newer than 2001. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?

I have just gone to the local rad shops. They have much better prices usually than the specialty 4x4 shops.
