"Target Idle RPM not reached" (t-200)

Jun 15, 2006 2 Replies

I got a shop to read the error code and got this error. They are telling me that the idle air controller motor is sticking and needs to be replaced. They are estimating $185 for the repair. I am no mechanic, but I have been told that this is easy to replace. Anybody got any info or ideas? Thanks.

"Sticking" might be fixable with a few squirts of carburetor cleaner. I am thinking that your shop might have a policy of replacing the entire unit, because it is a more reliable fix. Maybe you can find someone else, who is willing to clean it instead.

Best thing to do is to clean it first with some TB cleaner. Be careful of the gasket. If you rip it you will need a new one. And don't pull on the pintle (pointy thing that sticks out of the coil).
