TJ engine swap - 4.0 to something with better MPG?

Bill, I think your being awfully hard on him. I'd say he's not so much a troll, rather an uninformed owner who was looking for some advice in a place where you'd expect to get a "polite" and knowledgeable answer. All most everyone did was flame the shit out of him. No wonder he's pissed. That kind of thing happens in this NG alot lately. I've been reading and posting here for the past six or seven years and I've noticed a marked decline in civility. Lighten up guys. Read, think, type, think again, edit, read it as if you asked the question then edit again. Then send. Rich Harris. USN soon to be retired and ready!

My thoughts exactly. No evidence of trolling by the OP. I've been reading this group for only a few weeks but have noticed the attitude.

[For that matter, Chevy can somehow get 20+ MPG with the new 400 HP Corvette.]

Rich,

You're quite right about this. In the past I benefited from Bill's wisdom, even just by lurking here.

These days Bill seems to worry too much, what will happen when Kerry gets in.

Will the Talibs take over America, or perhaps those pesky Russkies will f*ck his cute little dog?

Could we please stay with the topic matter?

Thank you!

I agree - attitude tends to run rampant in this NG. It certainly keeps me from asking a lot of the questions I would like to ask. Interestingly, some of the more uninteresting, mundane (read inflammable) questions I have posted in the past were largely ignored. It seems that many of the people that post the most, tend to do so just to make a caustic comment, ridicule a newbie, or flame a troll. Trolls, flamers, and crossposts are typically best ignored, rather than burning up bandwidth that the perps are not likely to read anyway. When in NG's, I try to apply the Golden Rule and the adage "If you don't have anything good (or constructive) to say, then don't say anything." Have a nice day!

Not to bud in, but I am. a Vette has slightly better aerodynamics then a J**P. As for the attitude thing.. every family has its quirks and nutballs, Judge as you want, but you won't find any other place with as much helpful info as right here.

He got all the logical answers, just not the one he wanted to justify his project. If he started out saying that he wanted to do this project and knew he would never recoup his investment, the outcome might have differed. Fact is, his reasons for doing the project were glaring and that's why he didn't get much in the way of "use a GM V6 XXXXX for your really cool project". People do Jeep engine swaps for a variety of reasons, mpg is just not usually one of them.

My ultimate suggestion to the OP, is to purchase a fuel efficient car for daily drudgery and keep his Jeep for sheer fun, orig. motor intact.

Either way, I'd be > Not to bud in, but I am. a Vette has slightly better aerodynamics then a

Oh I agree he got all the answers, but you'll not see him here again. It's the wording. And few replys, were worded civil. I'm by no means a kinder gentler type, but I do believe in respect. And when someone asks a question, he should be respected enough to be given the courtesy of an honest answer that's not demeaning.

That's not the point. The factory Wrangler engines make only 150 to 200 HP, so why couldn't they get better mileage with a newer tech engine? You don't need the full 400 HP.
