My 2001 GC's engines suddenly stops ... usually after driving a bit after the first start in the morning .. tried fuel cleaners and that helped a bit .. engine quits but the electrical power stays on.. sometimes just shifting into neutral and restarting solves the problem .. other times several restarts will start the engine back .. this is similar to a fuel filter problem to me .. so how hard is to change the filter on my jeep ... not in the tank filter .. this has a filter , pressure regulator combination on the outside in front of the tank above the rear axle ... a 30 dollar part at Auto Zone ...any help would be greatly appreciated ..thanks regulator

If it's like mine then you just have to pull the two little catches out and pull. They make a removal tool, but all I use is a small screw driver. Make sure there is no fuel pressure in the system. I generally do it in the morning, in the evening you should take the cap off then put it back on, that lets any pressure out. Gas will come from the engine side and a finger over the filter end will keep the fuel inside the filter till you can up-end it into a glass. If you put it output side (engine side) down the fuel will be mostly clean and can be put in the lawnmower. Do it the other way and you will dump out the crud.
