greetings, does anyone know the best way to get a 200 or 300 tdi to fit a 5 speed classic rangy gearbox ? I mentioned both tdi engines as I'm not sure which one to go for, maybe someone could recomend which one is best, I want to fit a good turbo diesel to my strange rover hybrid using the rangy 5 speed box if poss. Any ideas or solutions will be greatly recieved, dont worry how technical your ideas are as I have a full machine shop and welding facilities. Cheers. Jon.

200tdi should be a straight bolt-on to your LT-95 gearbox.

except that a 5-speeder ain't an LT95...
more likely to be an LT77, but the same applies - discos had LT77 plus 200 TDi. not much to choose between the engines, in fact, you're probably more likely to pick up a 200 TDi cheap than a 300.
later 5-speeds (after '95 in discos) are R380, and are better, really. But the engine should still go on OK. It's possible you might need a different bellhousing, but probably not.
LR made a retrofit kit to fit a 300Tdi to a RR. See publication LRML1175
