Are Fuel Tanks Unversal For Each Model?

"Would a tank advertised just for a Classic RR be suitable?" - The short answer is 'No'.

Early models had the pump mounted outside the tank. On later ones the pump was in the tank. Then the tank became plastic. The mounting arrangements between these tanks was different also. You need to determine which the recipient vehicle needs if a major rework is to be avoided.

Additionally, this may only affect the pump-in-the-tank designs, additional vapour off-take stubs appeared on the tank with the passage of time - these could be blanked off if used on an earlier model.

Also I think you will find the early 110" defender has the same tank, or will fit.

There are 2 kinds of in-tank pump, then the pump without in-tank. The later plastic tank and pump is the same on the disco I V8i models, AFAIK.

Later pump has the sender unit and pump in one big unit, about 5" diameter, held in by a big plastic nut thing.

I think the earlier in-tank pumps are in steel tanks, BICBW.
