During the above thread a little while ago, the problems of Search & Rescue organisations suffered in applying for Lottery Grants was raised. I said would report back on the application we had submitted for Staffs Search & rescue.
I couldn't say anything at the time as it was under embargo, but I am delighted to say our application was SUCCESSFUL.
We have received funding for equipment for our Land Rover, First Aid Equipment and training of volunteers.
However the Lottery does not fund organisations and we will still be out tin rattling and manning stalls at shows etc. to raise money for our day to day expenses, the greatest single item of which is insurance - to protect us from being sued by those we help!!!!
Anyone in the Staffs area interested in joining us please get in touch. We primarily do (on foot) missing person searches or provide 4x4 on or off road assistance to the emergency services.
