Defender110 2008

well LRO have posted a clip of their first test drive of the beast with the TD4 Ford engine

doesnt actually show anything aside from the ability to start when its really cold and to sound like a collection of bolts rattling in a biscuit tin when cold .Derek

Oh goody - you can drive it on a perfectly flat track/road - awsome! Ahem....

I can hear the floods of ex-Jap owners changing marques already..

Ok, so I'm being a tad cynical, but that's embarassing as a promo.

I'll get me coat.

Richard

P.S. Still loathe that dash!

yep exactly what I was thinking though if the dash doesn't rattle that will be an improvement btw Richard do you stock any of this kit

realise it 's more for V*t**a owners. ;-) Nice kit, and doubtless would give users that special edge over their rivals. Difficult to give a totally diplomatic answer though! Probably completely sellable to the portion of the market who haven't seen a well driven 2.25 diesel Series motor trance a tricked up V8 90 in a trial :-) Rather reminiscent of one or two LR sites..... pricing seems appropriate too.

All in all, I think I'll leave it to the L200 boys ;-)

Richard

P.S. I'd love to know how many orders they get!

Well, they sell Round Tuits, perhaps we can get a group order in and get a bulk discount?

I notice the passenger noise reducer on the same page has sold out!

But SNOW covered perfectly flat track/road.

LRO is a UK magazine is it not? I doubt that the reviewers have ever seen that much snow before let alone driven on it. Is there a gear graunch to wards the end and a little later a slight loss of control?

For God's sake don't tell my wife. I have been telling her there is no way to get a Round Tuit for at least a year.

But nothing any 4wd car couldn't cope with easily, and probably a lot faster - that's why it's embarassing.

They'd have to live very sheltered lives, we've have deeper snow routinely round here!

A definate little wibble there methinks!

really very sad I have had more fishtailing in snow in a 7 tonner and we get more snow .. in the freezer.! By comparison the article in LRW is like landing on the moon flooding it and going for a play they did the lot wading climbing etc etc shame no video what is brassing me off I have a paid up sub for LRO because (bless her) SWMBO bought it me for Crimble not realising I only had copies of LRO about for a Disco project ( better done in LRW IMO ). I did see several of the new 110's heading north on the M6 on a transporter so I should have put 2007( tho' I know its noraml practice to forward date for the US) and I got a run out in a Tranny with the TD4 fitted IMO its not a bad lump and a giant step forward from the Ford Di which I reckon sounded like a box of spanners being dropped down a fire escape. Revs well and seems decently quiet which doesnt explian why it sounded so rough on the clip Derek

I like the shovel hanging on the gates of the test track.

Be interesting to see what they make of it. I might even buy the mag.

Provided they've not imported any reliability problems with the engine, the figures look OK, and the new gearbox with the extra-low gear looks handy - on some models, TDi disco for example, 1st-high was too high for heavy towing, moving off on a slope required low range, and extra low first would solve that and if 2nd is now about where 1st used to be, once rolling it'll be OK; it was moving off from rest that I found to be a problem, too much clutch slip for my taste to get the revs up enough to avoid stalling it.

I prefer a "normal" full road test...
