Disco Sunroof Opening Problem

Oct 06, 2003 1 Replies

My 95 disco front sunroof won't open without a bit of manual assist. ( one hand on the switch, one on the glass, none on the wheel:( )

Was not always thus, but now it requires a push up on the glass at the back else the glass hits the frame.

Currently roof lining is out (as it collapsed :( ) and is being replaced so all the sunroof workings are visible.

Local LR garage and local Sunroof fitters have no idea.

It looks like there's 4 Allen screws that allow for forward/rear adjustment of the glass on the frame, my guess is to move the glass forward on the frame 1-2mm so that the glass has been lifted higher by the runners before it runs into the frame.

However my repairs don't always add value so before I do anything silly any ideas appreciated, so far the sunroof does not leak..

thanks

HI, I've just bought a disco with the same problem but on the rear sunroof instead. I rang round b4 buying the disco to see what sort of costs are involved.

One specialist said that it was a dealer only fix, I rang a local dealer and off the top of his head it was £500! all in.

I then rang a 4x4 breakers and they said approx £30 for mechanism.

Well now I own the vehicle I will be giving it a full service and rectifying any problems, so I will let you know if its a fixable problem in the near future. :)
