I have a 1989 2.5 110 done 60K miles and at times is very difficult to start and runs like a bag of S**t, epically at low revs and under load. I was thinking of converting to electronic ignition (remember my father converting a Cortina many years ago )
Can any one recommend a kit that is currently on the market?
Thanks
Paul

You can do a DIY job: you need the distributor from a 1.7 or 2.0 leyland O series (not an O2); fitted to morris ital, petrol-engined sherpas, and early rover 820s (non-16V ones).
You need to remove the drive gear from the bottom and substitute the drive dog from the landy distributor. You also need the wiring plug from the amp and the coil, which is a 12V electronic type one. I did this mod on a 110 mainly 'cos I had the distributor (Lucas 45D4) to hand, and it worked well.
Mind, I'd not rule out replacing the dizzy, if it's shagged, With a new points one. Unless they're very different, they're not silly money. that and new plugs and leads and coil should sort it for another 10 years.
