Freelander won't start, occasionally

Hi group

Got a Freelander 2000, 1.8 petrol, standard equipped, that occasionally wont start, despite a completely full battery. After about 2 hours, it starts with no problem. Susspected it had something to do with the alarm "super-locking"-system, but having tried all described methods (pressing key-buttons while in ignition at position II etc) i am bevildered. It has happend 3 times now, and my local garage waves their hands and has no idea either.

Anybody tried something similar?

thx in advance millman

my old mans 2.0td had exactly the same thing turned out to be the switch at the bottom of the ignition barrel.Take the cowling off, just a couple of screws and give it a squeeze (the white bit with the wires going into it) they are only about fifteen quid and a ten minute job to replace.
