I am trying to find price and availability on a 2.5td conrod assembly. I have tried paddocks, craddocks and all the others that i can think of on the net but do not have the part listed. If anyone knows where I can get one and what kind of price they are then I would be most appreciative. I daren't go to the local landrover dealer! Won't bore you with story of why I need a new one (basically, slip-water-brrrrrm-bang-oops)

Oh dear - is this the new old motor or the old new motor? V8 - you know it makes sense.
No, It was the old motor thank god. I had the head off after i wrote the above message and actually the con-rods are fine. Put a straight edge on the top of the block and put a feeler gauge underneath to measure and they were all the same at a few thou. Engine seems in OK nick otherwise but with a little scoring on the bores. Im going to get a new head gasket next week and slap it back together. A mate of mine has got a compression leak tester in work so he will check for me to see if the scoring is too much. All the bottom end is new as are pistons so seems a shame to throw it away. At least i would have a spare head and turbo etc! Was odd though, the compression values were 350, 240, 80 and 310. I suspect that the head gastket gave up the ghost or one or more of the valves was bent. we'll see. I'm glad no-one walked in to my garage while I was doing the compression test though, I had to sit on the engine to stop it falling over while i turned it over with a spare battery. Yeeeeeehaaaa!
Dave
P.S. Those spinny things for the steering wheel, Tom Smith has got a selection and Riverlea tractors have too if you want to get a posh one!

Cheers, buddy - I'll check Tom out this week. And I won't tell the Health and Safety people about your engine rodeo.
