Help Alarm wont stop

Hi chaps I have a big problem with my 1996 CSW.

Alarm went off at 03.45 the other morning and wouldnt stop via the remote, which is a remotekey.co.uk replacement. It would only stop by disconnecting the battery. When the battery is reconnected the alarm sounds immediately, Is there any way of disabling the alarm. The immobiliser has been by-passed and disabled on the control unit by Remote Key. I am not particulary bothered if the alarm doesnt work anymore even if it nulls my theft insurance.

any help gratefully received

Further to above I have removed the 5 amp fuse from position 20 to no effect

The manual states there is a 15 amp fuse behind the instrument binnacle , I have had the dash off, but I cannot see a fuse, anyone know exactly this is located please?

Update I have removed the fuses for alarm system and sounder (10 and

20) but the alarm (but not the horn) still sounds when the battery is reconnected. I have disconnected the alarm ECU and the sounder still goes off. According to my manual the relay for the sounder is located next to the wiper motor but I have had a look and no relay is present, so I cant find the 15 amp fuse for the alarm system or the sounder relay....... help.

If it's anything like my 98 defender then yes the alarm goes off if you disconnect the battery. YOU have to input your security code via the ignition key b4 you disconnect the battery and when you put it back on.

This is probably too simplistic but can't you just disconnect the sounder?

Question: Where is it getting its power when the vehicle battery is disconnected?

Any decent alarm sounder has a battery built in and there is a "hold off" voltage supplied to it from the vehicle battery. Cut the wires to the sounder or remove the vehicle battery and off it goes.

I'll start by admitting that I know nothing specific about this vehicle!

From the manual/circuit diagram .....

If this vehicle has the battery-backed up sounder (BBUS) (some don't) there'll be a four way connector for it behind the LH headlight unit. The connector will have four black wires. Breaking this connection should silence the BBUS immediately and, unless the alarm ECU has some other clever tricks, without any other effect. If it is not silenced immediately the noise should only last until the sounder's internal battery runs flat.

That is probably going to be the solution

I did warn I was probably being too simplistic...

Well this is an alarm/immobiliser system and part of its design includes self protection from obvious interference.

If a proper fix not possible then try a bulb in the circuit where the sounder went. It looks like it needs to find a path to earth on the circuit you disconnected and no doubt has some kind of inbuilt logic which prevents starting if there isn't one.
