Insurance (again!)

Hi

I know this gets done to death in this NG, but I'm afraid I haven't taken much notice as I was quite happy with my insurers and premium, until now! My premium (NFU Mutual) for next year on a 1983 110 V8 CSW (LPG), worth about £4k, has risen to £350 - I live in Stanmore, Middlesex. Can anyone suggest a reputable company that might be cheaper.

Regards

Neil

Yes. CIS.

Every time they have quoted me, they've been significantly cheaper than anybody else. They now insure all 3 of our cars.

I use Peter Best and have managed to wangle a 'classic 4x4' policy, even though at 1982, it's not exactly vintage! Mines a 109 V8 on LPG and costs me about £260 fully comp, and I'm only 25 to boot.

Good luck

I had to cancel with Firebond due to my Range Rover dying.

I had only had the policy for about 6 months using direct debit payments. The policy small print meant that after various charges for cancellation, 'agreed' valuation, admin and finance, I had about a £10.00 refund (Policy had cost around £200). Needless to say none of the charges were mentioned when arranging the policy over the telephone.

They took a very aggressive stance, which meant when I queried the above I received a letter stating that they wanted the money (i.e. balance of direct debits) straight away - a charge of around £25.00 was made for that letter.

I would NOT deal with Firebond again.

Count your self lucky!!! At 21 years old a modified (Uprated Suspension, bigger wheels and tyres) 1987 3.5V8 would cost me over £1000 to insure.

NFU did that to me as well - £240-odd last year, add nearly £100 this year, and no claims at all. Found AXA the best when I did my rounds (about £220 iirc).
