My mother scammed by Spanish Lottery con

Hi

My mother has been conned into sending thousands to some fraudster in Spain, at 90 she's rather vulnerable. I mention this so if you have elderley parents you can be aware and warn them -whether they'll listen to or not is another question! My mother thought she knew better than me! I now have to take power of attorney.

Cheers

Why do you bother?

Do you have psycho-sexual issues with 4x4 motor cars?

Have you considered professional help?

You're funny. Learn to snip properly however.

Err, if anything you did worse than he did!

I actually thought of that after I'd hit the "send" button already. I'll try and blame it on lack of sleep.

We was still funny though.

You've done it again! ;-)

Just chop out the bits that you're not directly replying to, if someone wants to see further context they can zoom up the thread.

I presume you mean like this...

In that case, I we have a different approach to snipping, as I consider it more useful to include most of the contextually relevant posts, even if they're not "current". I should have snipped more the first time, but I consider the second post to be OK by my standards.

Mine's based on usenet posting since 1991 and reading the etiquette guides, not many have even heard of them any more!

Well, you know, the democratisation of media results in more ignorant people participating, causing some degeneration of the medium in a way[1]. I try and adhere to the basics I can easily grasp (e.g. I stopped top-posting rather quickly...) but I admit that I haven't bothered investigating much further.

Usenet in 1991? Blimey, I still had an Amstrad 6128 back then (used as a gaming machine 98% of the time) and I only knew of *one* person who had a modem - a 9.6Kbps iirc, connected to his Amiga.

[1] That sounded more snobbish than it should have.

Blimey - 9K6 - that was FAST. I used to be on the end of a 110 baud link to a timesharing bureaux, and we thought that was fast compared to working out our lab results on the lab HP 'computer' - mind you that was about 1968/9

Nige, as usual, shows us how not to do it!
