OT Tiny URL links

It's bound to be my fault (being a computer numpty), but I can never get these blasted tinyURL links to work. I wanted to look at the link from Mark Solesbury's photo petition thread but the beggar just won't work.

Here's the link he posted:

formatting link
(251) Ok, the blue bit just hangs. Cut and paste the whole thing (including the (251) bit) and I get an error. It's the same every time someone posts a tinyURL link for me and it's frustrating to say the least!!!

So gents, how the f*ck (* insert your favourite vowel here) do you get these tiny links to work? Ta, Steve

Works fine for me takes you to Early Day Motions page.

Sounds like config error in your mail program or system.

Don't need the (251) bit just the bit from "h" to "5".

Great ... if only!

Don't think so. Clicking on the link in the newsreader opens Internet Explorer and puts the address (from h to 5) in the "Go" window. Then it starts to go and look for it and then .... nothing.

Ok, exactly as it automatically enters it then. Doesn't work though. :-(

Perhaps the OP from the "Petition" thread can post the full link - it'd make life soooo much easier (and, as Lee pointed out, safer!).

it's not go there for me yet, I'm not that patient.

I wouldn't be surprised at either of those being true, especially the latter. tinyurl used to (probably still does) data harvest and set cookies all over the shop, not to mention redirecting you through other sites before you eventually ended up at the site you should be at.

I used to use makeashorterlink as they did just do simple a redirect but guess who has just bought and closed that down...
