I've got room to park a field-kitchen. Mind, it'd be tricky towing that and the caravan - I think you have to have the vehicle classed as a haulage tractor to tow 2 trailers. reversing might be "interesting" too.

Shuttup. ;-) You were watching me make an absolute ballsup of getting a truck and trailer into a loading dock last night weren't you Austin. After 10 minutes of amusement turning to frustration and finally anger I admitted defeat and let someeone else do it in about 30 seconds - the humiliation was total.

I'm guessing you mean a drawbar setup not a job I would fancy. Derek

Exactly the setup. I'm also pretty awful at backing a 'B-train' (ie a double artic setup). An ordinary artic setup is easy though.

ordinary artic is just like a sod-off wheelbarrow. I imagine the B train suffers from needing huge amounts of space to swing in.

tried 4-wheel steering trailers behind a tractor and they're a git - tractor hitch is mounted much nearer the rear wheels though.

They're not too bad if you know what you're doing.

They are easier with a tractor than a truck - it's much quicker to turn a tractor and get yourself out of trouble when it all gets out of shape.

A friend of mine used to pull in at a pub across the road in an eight wheeler and drawbar trailer, in through a narrow gateway then sharp left and pull down the carpark a fair way. When he came out there were usually more cars in the way but he just used to back round them and out, only took him a few seconds and he was gone. Marvellous to watch.
