Replacing carpet

Hello there, I have an Australian spec 1999 Disco TD5 auto with a lovely carpet floor and rubber foot mats.

Lovely that is until you drive though deep water and it leaks through the doors and gets the carpet wet. It would be much better to have rubber/vinyl/plastic flooring with carpet mats that you can ditch when they get grotty.

So does any one know if any series II disco came with a vinyl floor,( believe there was a van version of the disco in the UK that might provide suitable flooring)or if any third pary makes such a thing?

Has anyone done this?

Hi Tim

When I visited Solihull to do the Land Rover experience, the guy taking us told us that the carpets in the Discovery are rot proof, and can take being wetted. The design of the floor helps the drainage as well.

So your carpets should survive being wetted.

Hello Graham, thanks for this. Good to know the carpets will survive, just have to find something to kill the smell. At the moment it's like every tadpole in Australia has expired inside the car...
